  • FYI:  The 2009 Washinton Legislature passed a law requiring the Building Code Council to adopt a rule requiring installation of Carbon Monoxide (CO) monitors in homes.  This rule will be in effect and all new construction must conform by July 1, 2010.  It’s also possible that sellers will be required to install the monitors prior to a buyer taking occupancy.  It is also likely that landlords will be required to install carbon monoxide monitors not later than January 1, 2013.  Specific requirements will depend on the language of the rule.  When it’s all settled, I will let you know the outcome.  HOWEVER, this legislation emphasizes that our homes should be equipped with CO monitors.  Over 20,000 people are treated annually in emergency rooms, nationwide, for carbon monoxide poisoning and approximately 500 die.  In Washington, more than 1000 people suffered from poisoning and 8 died after the 2006 windstorm.  A Carbon Monoxide monitor can cost less than $50 and could save your life and the lives of your loved ones.  CO cannot be detected by human senses and can pass through garage and apartment walls.

Have you been looking for a vacation rental property in Long Beach?  Thanks to Gayle Borchard, the new city planner, we’re pretty up to date on where you can and can’t do it.  Gayle kindly spoke to a group of Realtors before our tour of new listings and provided us with this fact sheet.  You might find it helpful.  VACATION RENTAL FACT SHEET.

Don’t miss out on the fun of owning beach property!  There’s still a lot of great weather left.

Ever been to the Doggie Olympics? Like organizing things?  The future depends on a new chairperson.  If you’d be interested in helping out in this capacity, please let me know.  This is a fun event and we have great ideas for next year’s “games”.

Do you own property at the beach that you’d like to sell but haven’t been able to?  Ever want to own a fishing boat?  Have I got a deal for you!    The owner of the Mariner would like to trade this beauty for partial payment on a vacation home here at the beach.    Contact me for more info.

One last note about something you might want to attend:

There will be a dedication on Saturday, September 19, in Long Beach to
celebrate the completion of the Discovery Trail which runs from south
to the Port of Ilwaco. The event will begin at 9 AM at the Bolstad
Beach Approach and will include a Chinook tribal blessing, ribbon
cutting and a walk/run/bike along the trail.

That’s all for now, except for the requisite pet photo!

In the news….

Everything! | Posted by Cheri Diehl

TAX ASSESSMENTS: Several people have contacted me regarding their recent re-evaluation for property assessment and not a one of them has been happy!  As I see it, one of the problems we have in Pacific County is a four year cycle of appraisals.  That will change in 2011 when the entire county will be revalued every year.

There are a lot of questions surrounding how things are done, where the money goes, etc.  If you’re curious about the sales lists for new values, you can access those through the Pacific County site.  Also, Assessor Bruce Walker will be at the county building on Sandridge Road Thursday, September 10 at 6:00 pm.  Bring your questions and your manners.

San Diego!

San Diego!

We just returned from a few days in San Diego where, as usual, they had a heat wave start as soon as we arrived!  We did have a great time at Charlie’s Air Force reunion of men stationed in Chaumont, France in the 60′s.  In addition to touring, we spent a day on a catamaran, sailing the bay and out into the ocean.  Never saw the dolphins, but had a great lunch pool-side at a hotel.  Being back in the northwest with the cool weather, sunny skies and no traffic feels good!
