Sea Turtles, Rotary and the Beach!

Everything!, Long Beach Peninsula, Real Estate, Water Front

The Rotary Club of SW Pacific County Peninsula enjoyed a fascinating talk by Marc Ward of Sea Turtles Forever this morning. He focused on the amount of plastics found not only on our beaches but inside just about every sea bird, fish and now the turtles too! Please visit the website and do what you can to help.

Do you know what Rotary does?  Visit our site, look for us on Facebook and look around for a Rotarian to ask!  What a wonderful organization this is.

A whole month of 2010 is gone – are you still writing 2009?  I’ve finally made the switch but it wasn’t easy.

There’s a lot of real estate going on right now and by that I mean going on the market.  New listings practically every day.  You can find all of Discovery Coast Real Estate’s exclusive listings at Our Listings.  Remember, you can also search for all listings through our “Real Estate Links” on the home page.

Another great feature is the interactive map.  It’s located on our home page – be sure to scroll down and see it!  We’re planning some changes to the site to make it easier to find.  Suggestions?

Just a reminder that Valentine’s Day is fast approaching!  Don’t let your sweetheart down.  There are so many fun things to do here at the beach.  Check out Funbeach for all the details.

I ran across an interesting article regarding color.  Written for Realtors, it has interesting advice on paint colors and how they might relate to getting your house sold.  Read about Color Psychology.

Well, that about wraps it up for now.  Remember, Discovery Coast Real Estate can assist you with all phases of real estate.   We know the beach!  Whether you’re interested in buying or selling; whether on the ocean or in town; investment or vacation home, condos or vacant land, we’re looking out for you!  Come see us soon.

Things are looking up!

nature16Spring is always a time of renewal and maybe the real estate market is going to see some of that energy!  We’ve seen an increase in potential buyers looking at properties, asking for more info and just generally acting more enthused about purchasing.  I hope many of them will be attending the Home Buyer Fair on March 31.  You don’t need to be a first time buyer to attend.  You don’t even need to be contemplating buying or selling right now.  Just come for the fun of it (and the cookies).

According to the National Association of Realtors, existing home sales were up in February which is good news for everyone, even though over 40% of those sales were “distressed sales”.    First time buyers accounted for a good bit of the action after the $8,000 tax credit was announced, purchasing about 50% of the homes sold.

greenfishswimAnd for some local good news, Butch Smith, from the Ilwaco Charter Association, reports the Salmon season opens on June 28th this year and will run for 7 days a week! It is predicted to be a great season. Buoy 10 is also supposed to be excellent, with over 1.1 million fish coming back this year. Halibut season will open on May 1 (Friday) this year, but will only be 3 days/week: Thursday, Friday & Saturday until the quota is reached.  Sturgeon season will open on May 9 and continue through June 28, with a bonus of July 2,3, and 4.

On the subject of salmon, Butch Smith, President of the Ilwaco Charter Association, reports that this should be the best ocean salmon season since 2001.
clamDon’t forget clamming is tentatively scheduled for this weekend along with the annual Bluegrass Festival.
What are you waiting for?  Come to the Beach!
